The market
Alberta opened Canada's second competitive online market on 13 July 2026, ending PlayAlberta's run as the only sanctioned site in the province. Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis regulates the market and the Alberta iGaming Corporation holds the operator agreements, the same split Ontario uses. Operators pay a 20% share of net revenue, after 3% of gross revenue goes to First Nations and social responsibility funding, and more than twenty private casino and sportsbook sites were live on day one.
What this means for matched betting
Alberta opened in July 2026 with more than twenty private casino and sportsbook sites live on day one, which makes it the freshest competitive market in Canada. Early markets are when operators compete hardest for customers. The 20% revenue share is the same headline rate as Ontario, and the field is already wide enough to hedge across.
Figures are indicative and can change as markets evolve. Always confirm current rules, tax and the legal age with the AGLC before you bet.
